Meet Jonathan, founder of GOAT Acupuncture:

Jonathan Monitz, L.Ac, MTOM, is a board-certified and California-licensed acupuncturist specializing in orthopedics and sports medicine. He graduated with honors from Emperor’s College of Traditional Chinese Medicine where he trained under world renowned doctors gaining experience in treating a wide range of orthopedic, physiological, and mental health conditions.

Utilizing his studies in kinesiology, physics, and classical Chinese medical texts, Jonathan developed unique methods to screen, evaluate, and treat patients for actual and potential injuries, often preventing injuries before they occur. This approach has helped many patients refine their form, enhance their health, prevent recurrent and new injuries, and achieve optimal performance levels previously unattained. Jonathan offers solutions through acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and Tui Na manual therapy.

Jonathan's Personal Acupuncture Journey:

My journey into acupuncture began after a core muscle injury left me unable to stand or walk without assistance. After consulting with several western physicians who said there was nothing they could do for me "yet" (meaning they would recommend surgery when my condition got worse), I was referred to acupuncture legend Dr. Jevon Li, L.Ac, for orthopedic acupuncture.

At that time, my perception of acupuncture was limited to nonrepresentative images from movies like "Hellraiser." However, after expert treatment, I left my first session no longer needing my back brace, amazed and curious how acupuncture had bestowed me control of my body.

Over the following months of regular acupuncture treatments, I studied and compared my walk and posture to hundreds of peak-performance athletes. I observed the nuances in individuals' gait and structure and how minor memory-related movements could gradually lead to significant injuries. This motivated me to enroll in Emperor's College to gain a deeper understanding of these mechanisms and learn how to prevent these injuries in patients, athletes, and myself.
